Local Exhaust Ventilation Services (LEV)
The type of engineering control equipment that commonly used in the industries. To control workers exposure to the hazardous chemicals that effect to health. Its operate on the principle of capturing a contaminant at or near its source before they are dispersed into the workroom environment. Contaminants can be in the form of dust, smoke, mist, aerosol, vapour and gas.
The conduct of Examination and test of the LEV system and its performance is to identify distinct from routine maintenance to determine whether or not the LEV system is performing correctly and effectively.
Methodology for the examination and testing of LEV shall be in accordance with Guidelines on Occupational Safety and Health for Design, Inspection, Testing and Examination of Local Exhaust Ventilation System, 2008.
Noise monitoring is necessary to be conducted, to assess the existing noise climate, assessing the compliance noise limits in the environment for the protection of workers from the excessive noise, and noise abatement through planning and control.
Section 23 under The Environmental Quality Act 1974: No person shall, unless licenced, emit or cause or permit to be emitted any noise greater in volume, intensity or quality in contravention of the acceptable conditions specified under section 21.
The methodology shall be as established by DOSH and Noise Exposure Regulations 1989 for the area and personal exposure monitoring.
